For the past couple months or so, it seems everyone has been creating these adorable mini-chalkboard cards. They looked awesome, so last night I decided to try my hand at one. While fun, it was a great reminder that white pigment ink is my arch nemesis. It gets EVERYWHERE! My chalkboard ended up being a little more "messy" looking than I had intended, but luckily with this technique there is definite room for error.
I used chalkboard stickers from American Crafts that were actually intended for a halloween project. They ended up being perfect here! I love when you find things in your stash that you may or may not have totally forgotten about. ;-)
Here is a close-up of my messy little chalkboard. To get more details, check out the quick video I whipped up of the whole process below!

This will most likely be my last post before Christmas, so I wanted to be sure to say MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of my sweet blog readers. There are a lot of exciting things in store for Jess Larsen Design in 2013, and I can't wait to share!

I'm also messy with that ink-it's why I can only admire the cards stamped out on acetate-I've tried-disaster! And glitter. I only stare & pet glitter.
ReplyDeleteI love how yours turned out! And it does look better smudge up a bit too.
I hope you & your family have a happy & joy-filled Christmas!
I LOVE this! I have yet to attempt the chalkboard thing b/c I know it will just be a bunch of fingerprints ;)
ReplyDeleteFun video Jess! I had the opposite problem and I don't think I had enough chalkboard dust. I think it's time for a new white ink pad. LOL! Love your card and I think the messy look is GREAT!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jess! I am loving this chalkboard technique and yours looks so good against the red. In response to your comment about washi tape, I also have issues with it which is why I've only recently tried incorporating it into my cardmaking. It's much easier to use elsewhere, like decorating envelopes and gifts or taping my son's cars together. LOL
