Name suggestions! :-)

Thank you all for the sweet wishes on my last post!  You guys are the best. I even had a local blogger offer me some of her baby's hand-me-downs which is amazing!

Right now, I am almost 25 weeks and in that sweet spot that I had been hearing about during the first trimester.  I've got energy, don't feel sick and I'm ready to start alphabetizing the spices in my kitchen.  That's a totally normal thing right? :-)

At the end of January, we had our 20 week ultrasound and found out that our little baby is a BOY!  We are over the moon excited for his arrival.  We had no preferences on gender, but now that we found out we're Team Boy, it seems like it's what I never knew I always wanted.  My husband's mom saved a lot of his baby clothes, books and even some toys and I can't wait to pass those down.  We haven't been buying too much for him yet, but I know that we will have to start getting the basics soon.  We are starting from scratch over here!

I also tried my hand at making a baby blanket and little lovey for our bambino.  Turns out, I am not a seamstress...Maybe I'll post pictures of that if I'm feeling brave!

Also, we are having a tough time coming up with the perfect name for this little guy.  Nothing sounds quite right, or fits with our last name, or just sounds like THE ONE.  Maybe nothing ever will, but he has to be named something right?!  SO much pressure!  So, if any of you have any killer name suggestions, please leave them in the comments.

I swear this blog will someday be about paper crafting again...as soon as I'm done arranging my clothes in the closet by color.  Priorities!

  2. Sometimes I think choosing a name is even more difficult than the pregnancy!

I'm at the 24 week mark and I've just started making a list of names. I love the book Baby Name Wizard and the site that goes along with it. If you haven't visited yet, there are several great tools to help you in your search. They even offer suggestions for sibling names, which is helpful when you're stuck on a name that you like, but won't work with your last name or family situation. For instance, I've been loving the name Beatrice, but could never in good conscience give it to a girl with my last name. The Baby Name Wizard's sibling names suggestions for Beatrice were pitch perfect for us though.

I couldn't even begin to give you suggestions because they're so personal, but I can give you advice. With my son, we really started pouring over names around this time (5-6 months) and couldn't settle on one that was just right. So we narrowed it down to 2-3 and lived with them for a few months. By the time he was born, we were more comfortable with the names and just knew which one fit. So I suggest you pick a few favorites and live with them for a while.

  3. Okay, I just wrote a whole long post that somehow got deleted. Anyway, definitely pick up or visit the Baby Name Wizard! Wish I had that book before my three boys were all born. It will help steer you in the direction your tastes fall in.

So glad you're doing well, Jess! I've been thinking of you and stopping in here from time to time. Miss you!

  6. Congratulations! Boys are awesome and they love their mom's deeply. My son is 16 and he and I have a strong bond. If I were having another baby and it was a boy, I would name him Brody. Take care.

  8. I love that you take naming your baby very seriously. Whatever you choose will
be something given with a lot of love and thought. When we were choosing, we
considered both the name itself and its meaning. Some of my favorite boys names
    are Benjamin, Daniel and Thomas.

  9. Congrats Jess! What a fun time! Boys are lots of fun! Have fun gathering up all those little clothes! My favorite name is Brody...my 3 year old..hehe! It's hard to pick but my advice is to pick your top favorite 2 or 3 and take them to the hospital with you, then choose! You have to see his face and then you'll know! So happy for you! Hugs!!
