I love a good challenge, so I was super excited to see a couple of challenges that really went hand in hand this week. First, I saw the Play Date Cafe Color Challenge featured the colors black, white and red — classic, gorgeous combo.
Then, I read the CAS-ual Friday challenge was to use black, white and READ all over! A match made in heaven. I decided to bust out one of my favorite books for inspiration and get to work!
When I was in 8th grade, I read Where the Heart Is. (Mainly because I knew there was a movie about it with Natalie Portman who I loved at the time.) It was and still is one of my favorite books, and I had the perfect card in mind as soon as I thought of it!
The red heart just POPS against the black house.
Here is my take. A very literal interpretation of the book, but I decided to go with it. :-)

I hope everyone is having an amazing Labor Day. I am doing some work for my day job from home today and LOVING that I don't have to head into the office. I will also squeeze some crafting time in there I'm sure. A video is on deck later this week, as well as some other fun. :-)
