Studio Tour

One of my favorite things to do is check out where other crafters make their magic, so I thought it would only be fair to share where I craft as well.

My craft studio is located on our first floor, at the front of the house. Our house faces west, so I get to sweat bask in the afternoon sunshine at my desk. The picture above is the view from when you first walk in the door. We have neighbors pretty close to us on our north side, otherwise that window would be open as well.  Let's head in and get the full tour!

This is your view when you enter through the door and turn immediately to your right.  I have an old kitchen table with a metal top that holds my sewing machine and my Tonic paper trimmer. Beneath the table are boxes of fabric.

Continuing on, we see the back half of my "U" shaped work area. This half houses my Cricut and my Big Shot. If I have a niece or family member over to craft, this is where they would sit to work. All of the cubes are from Michaels and the tops are white laminate from Menard's.

Pictured above is the corner of the main work area. My husband built a piece to stabilize the corner.

The three shelves on the wall hold embellishments, Martha Stewart Punches, a little glass birdie, coloring mediums, my favorite Papertrey twine and a print that reads "The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time - Bertrand Russell."

The metal piece on the wall holds miscellaneous embellishments, pieces I'm not sure what to do with and some of my wafer thin dies. My iHome is below and is almost always on one of the million Pandora stations I listen to.
The wooden drawers were actually my mom's old jewelry box, but now store sewing paraphernalia. My Copics are on the top in the glass canister, next to a picture of my husband and a little lamp.

Here is my primary work area.  I love how that chair looks, but hate sitting in it.  It's uncomfortable and is super hard to turn around in.  I keep pushing back buying a new one because my money gets spent on supplies instead. :-)

All of my paper and lots of my favorite stamps are in the cubes to my right.  In the drawers to my left are all of my inks and some more stamps.

My rarely used OttLite sits on top next to baby wipes and paper towels.  I also have a spinning tool caddy holding my frequently used items.

Directly in front of my chair is my large shelving unit. The brown and pink baskets hold lots of different things, from vinyl, to chipboard, to jars of thread, acrylic paint and other miscellanea.

My sharpies are sorted by color next to my printer. The small brown basket on the bottom shelf is empty because one of our cats likes to sleep there. :-)

The top of the shelf holds a small TV and DVD player, a lamp, a bin with gems in it, stamps, a box of cards I have made and a frame that lists the standard card sizes.

The cubes on the wall hold almost all of my woodblock stamps and some cards that I have made that are current favorites.

In case you feel like you haven't had enough, I've made a short video walking through the room as well!

Thanks so much for stopping by this week!  Enjoy the weekend and make sure to spend sometime in your craft space creating something beautiful!

  5. I agree, it is SO fun to see 'where the magic happens'. You have an awesome craft room! Love the way you made your U-shape desk. Now, you MUST treat yourself to a comfortable chair! I found a big red leather desk chair in the IKEA as-is. And I got a black leather guest chair from Craigs list. So many bargains to be had! Great post!!

  7. I love the way you have things organized! I have some of those cubes from Michael's, but they don't stay together very well. Did you use glue (and what kind) when you put them together?
