This year, I decided I was going to have a motto.
I was inspired by the Beatles song (love it) and the idea that it is my CHOICE to be happy and make the best of every situation. So, "Follow the sun..." seemed like an obvious choice for my 2011 motto.
I decided to make a journal to document life in 2011, and this is what I came up with.
The journal itself is from Hobby Lobby. It had a plain cover, but I of course had to embellish.
Love the Tim Holtz numerals. That little 1 is just the 1/2 cut apart. I painted them with white craft paint, then some Tim Holtz distress crackled clear coat and inked them with vintage photo.
Those papers on the front are from an old hymnal and an old children's book I snagged at an auction. The "follow the sun" is some old rub on letters from when I first started thinking about scrapbooking, 5 years ago.
This is the inside cover. Goofy pictures of the hub and I stapled with the tiny attacher. Stamps from Tim Holtz and song lyrics that I typed up and printed on some old book paper. The little envelope is from Maya Road and the safety pin says "secrets" and is also from Mr. Holtz. All papers are from American Crafts Dear Lizzy.
The rest of the book is just journaling pages and the back cover is unfinished, because I don't know how this year is going to end.
I am definitely NOT a scrapbooker, but it was really fun to make a collage-ish sort of piece.

On a totally separate note, I wanted to say how super thrilled I was that to be chosen as an Honorable Gnome over at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog this week! I've proudly added the button to my sidebar. I will definitely be participating in future challenges there.
I also was pretty excited to see another Lawn Fawn card I did over at Kelly Marie's blog today. Every week she chooses a few cards from the Lawn Fawn Flickr group to feature on her blog, and my Fungi Father's Day card was one of them!
It will probably be pretty quiet here this weekend. I have to cover a weekend long event for my day job, so I sadly won't be in my studio at all! But, I'm sure I will be back Monday — hopefully with a video I've been working on. Thanks for stopping by!

This is so fun! I *love* that Regina Spektor song too :) Congrats on being featured on Lawn Fawn!!
